JUP Tournaments was established in 2004 with the mission of promoting
tournaments, providing a forum for competitive bowlers in the
Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
There are three separate tournament formats, each represented
by a different name. JUP Classic is a handicap singles tournament
with an optional scratch side event and several side jackpots
and high games. JUP Masters is a scratch singles tournament and
JUP Deuces is a handicap doubles tournament with optional handicap
and scratch singles side events.
JUP Tournaments was founded by Ursula & Paul Rivers who
currently bowl league at Bowl America Gaithersburg. They have
been bowling in tournaments and leagues since 1999. Paul has a
high game of 268 and high set of 714. Ursula has a high game of
255 and high set of 614. Paul is a member of the Inner City Bowling
Congress (ICBC) and serves as the Assistant Tournament Director
for the ICBC. Within the ICBC Paul has been a member of the Crusaders
Bowling Club, and now is currently with the Energy Bowling Club
serving as the Assistant Tournament Director.
John Simmons is the other founding partner of JUP Tournaments.
John has been bowling in leagues and tournaments for 28 years
and has been secretary of the Jammers bowling league, currently
bowling at AMF Dundalk, for 26 years. John has several 300 games
to his name and a high set of 855. He is currently director of
the DC AMF Summer Tour and has been for the past several years.
John is one of the original members of the Crusaders Bowling Club.
